Buford, Georgia. A Rich History.

Quite hard to believe that Buford, Georgia has been around so long, but it has, having been incorporated just after the end of the Civil War in 1872. Today Buford is a bustling city with a continually growing population of more than 12,000 people. It's also become a center of tremendous commerce in Gwinnett County, Georgia where it is located. It has two very large centers of commerce, including the downtown historic area of Buford which retains its 1872 small town appeal, boasting small businesses and restaurants that are spectacular. Also in the city limits is the Mall of Georgia area, which is aproximately 15 years old. Buford originally consisted of Cherokee Indians until the settlers began colonizing the area in the 1860s.

Buford is also local to Lake Sidney Lanier, the home of Buford Dam on the south side of the lake, and also where many residents of Buford enjoy outdoor water related activities. Also local to the city are other attractions like Top Golf, the Andretti Raceway, and the Atlanta Braves minor league baseball team called the Gwinnett Stripers which play at Coolray Field, just outside of Buford.
